In 1891 he was on concession 5 lot 12 of Burford Twp. near Cathcart, Ontario. E. Methodist. He died at Woodbury, Ontario of pneumonia contracted while butchering. 84.  Gideon Ryder (Jonathan 5, William 4, William 3, Samuel 2, Samuel 1) was born about 1770 in Dutchess Co., NY and died about 1851 in Brant Co., Canada West. 

There is a Gideon Rider on the 1820 US Census of New York, Dutchess, Beekman.
A Gideon Ryder took the Oath of Allegiance to the Crown on November 16, 1830, Burford, Oxford, Upper Canada.  This means he had been in the Province at least seven years.
