I am also related to John Niles (1680-1768) & have been working on the geneology. There is a question that there are 2 women named Mary Ely & that the Mary Ely married to John Niles was born in Rhode Island in 1682. Richard Ely & Mary Marvin did also have a Mary Ely but there is question of her being the Mary Ely that married John Niles. She married a man names Noyes. Do you have any hard evidence of who our Mary Ely is?
ReplyDeleteHi:
ReplyDeleteSorry to take so long to answer. We did some research last summer at the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford, CT, and I decided to see if we had resolved the problem. No. However I do think there are two people named Mary Ely. One married Noyes and the other married Niles. I have searched Ancestry.com and NEHGS to no avail. I am thinking maybe the problem needs some professional help.
I will get back to you with the data I do have. Could we correspond by e-mail? My address is: ekipp@rogers.com
