  1. According the 1816 Upper Canada Land Petition of your Great Grand Father's son John Schram this UEL John Schram was deceased in 1816. This is further supported by his daughter Christeen's (married to John Soper) 1819 Upper Canada Land Petition which also states that her father is deceased.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would not confuse the death of your great grandfather with that of my great grandfather John Schram who settled and is buried in Pelham County. According to my great grandfather's Upper Canada Land Petition he fought in the Butler Rangers and was married to the daughter of Henry Staufer. The 1851 census of Gainsborough county lists my great grandfather's death at 96 years in the household on his eldest son Jacob in which his wife Margaret Staufer aged 95 years resides. Furthermore his death was published in the St. Catharines Journal, 25 Sep 1851 on page 3. My great grandmother Margaret Schram (ne. Staufer) died in 1856 and her death was published in the St. Catharines Journal, 17 Apr 1856 on page 3 clearly stating she was "predeceased by her husband, Mr. John Schram, who died in 1851 at 96 years."

Sincerely yours, Capt. John Schram (ret'd)
